Life is full of surprises!

Sometimes the surprises are pleasant – like finding a $20 in your path. Sometimes the surprises are aggravating – like a flat tire. Regardless, surprises are unexpected. No matter how much you plan, you can expect to have unexpected things happen to you.

How do you handle the unexpected? Do you worry or get angry? Or do you pull away and do nothing? Do you trust God or do you turn away from God?

This Sunday, January 12, I will begin my first sermon series of 2020, Hope is Born, The birth of Jesus isn’t just a Christmas story. It is the story of God’s love giving hope to the world. He sent His Son, Jesus, to save the world. As I begin the 2020 sermon theme through the Gospel of Luke, I will be talking for the next several weeks about the events surrounding the birth of Jesus.

This Sunday my topic is Expecting the Unexpected from Luke 1:5-25. For 400 years, God quit talking. Then He sent an angel to tell an old priest, Zacharias, that he would have a son who would prepare the way for God’s Son. What a surprise! No one expected this news! How Zacharias handled the unexpected will be a lesson you can learn as you manage the surprises in your life.

This Sunday you will be encouraged to not be afraid when the unexpected happens in your life. God has a bigger plan than you can imagine. Stay faithful. Trust God. Wait for Him.

Join me this Sunday @ 10:30 a.m.
