What excites you?

  • Do you get excited when gas goes down 10 cents?
  • Do you get excited when your favorite sports teams wins against their rival?
  • Do you get excited when your favorite movie has a sequel?
  • Do you get excited when the latest technology comes out?
  • Do you get excited about the greatness of God?

Psalm 47 is a celebration psalm. If you prefer quiet, meditative worship, this psalm will challenge you. It describes a praise celebration that involves hand-clapping, shouting, loud music and loud singing. Tradition tells us that it was written to celebrate the defeat of Sennacherib and Assyrians against Judah. It was a victory song praising the great God.

This Sunday, September 27, will be the 47th anniversary celebration of Faith Baptist Church and I’m going to preach a sermon from Psalm 47 called GET EXCITED!

But this psalm is more than a celebration of a past victory. It is a prophetic psalm that looks forward to the victory of Jesus in His death, resurrection and ascension. I will encourage you to get excited about all God has done in the past and wants to do for you in the future.
