Do you have the Christmas spirit this year?
Remember Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol”? Though many movie versions have been produced, my favorite is from 1951 with Alastair Sim as Scrooge. What is your favorite?
Regardless of which version you watch, Mickey Mouse, Mr. Magoo, or Muppets, the result is the same. A cranky old man who hates Christmas is changed overnight. Scrooge gets the Christmas spirit.
You can tell if you have the Christmas spirit by your love for others. Sometimes hectic schedules, limited resources, and rude people make it difficult to demonstrate love. We feel more like the grumpy Scrooge than we want to admit. How can we get the Christmas spirit and show love this Christmas?
This Sunday I continue our Christmas sermon series, The Gifts of Christmas. I will be talking about finding and giving love at Christmas. God demonstrated His love for us the first Christmas by giving His Son. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). From the birth of Jesus (Luke 2:1-7) we will uncover three clues about how you can demonstrate love to others this Christmas. If you think your Christmas is crazy, consider the first Christmas. My sermon is “Give the Gift of LOVE“.
In addition, our children will perform the Christmas story with music and drama. It will be wonderful.
