The United States is perhaps the most law-suit happy nation in the world. Civil lawsuits have increased 33% in the last 20 years. Every year 40 million new lawsuits are filed. We have over 1 million lawyers in the U.S. But lawsuits aren’t a new phenomenon.
The city of Corinth was notorious for lawsuits. Even Christians were taking their church members to court. God wasn’t very happy about it. Though God believes in justice and righteousness, He doesn’t like the greed and selfishness that permeate most lawsuits.
This Sunday I will go beyond the prohibition of Christians suing Christians. I want to show that any public selfish behavior should stop.
I continue my series: Christians Gone Wild. This Sunday is Morality and the Sinner. I will share the three reasons to stop public selfish behavior found in 1 Corinthians 6:1-8.
As a preview, let me share with you the three reasons I discovered:
- It destroys our Christian testimony.
- It doesn’t solve problems. We have all we need to solve every problem.
- It defeats your victory. If you must resort to a lawsuit to prove you’re right, you’re probably wrong about a lot of other things.
I will also share three life principles on Sunday that could make your relationships smoother.
