“If you ever find the perfect church, don’t go. It won’t be perfect anymore.”
Every church has problems. No church is perfect. Some problems are worse than others. But I don’t know any church who had as many and as severe of problems as the church in Corinth.
There were deep divisions, sexual immorality, lawsuits, power plays, doctrinal confusion, abuses of freedom, and displays of ego. So the Apostle Paul addresses those issues in 1 Corinthians.
But before he talks about what people see, he reminds them what God sees. God sees a beautiful, perfect church. God is not blind. God knows all the problems. But God loves the church and looks beyond their temporary issues.
God also loves you in spite of your mess. Whatever issues you have going on or messes in your past, God has a better future for you. He loves you and wants to make something beautiful out of your mess.
This Sunday I begin our journey through 1 Corinthians. We will deal with lots of negative stuff in a positive way. We will discover how God can take our mess and make a masterpiece. I begin this Sunday with a message called: The Perfect Church. From 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 I will share with you why God is so positive about a negative church. And I will also help you to become more positive about all the negative stuff in your life. I guarantee you will be encouraged.
Join us this Sunday, @ 10:30 a.m. Don’t forget, we will be back to our regular Sunday schedule: Sunday School at 9:30am, AWANA at 5:30pm, and Sunday evening service at 6:00pm. Sunday evening I begin Deuteronomy – Looking Backward, Moving Forward.
Make sure you start the year off right by going to church.
