Be careful little eyes what you see.
Pornography has permeated our society. 12% of all websites are pornographic. 70% of all men interviewed, aged 18-29, admit to viewing pornography monthly. A third of all viewers of online porn are women. Online pornography has seen an 18% increase during the recent quarantine. Pornography is destroying families.
In opposition to the destruction of pornography, Jesus promises a blessing to those who are “pure in heart”. Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).
But how can a person be holy and ‘pure in heart’ today? What does it mean to for a family to be ‘pure in heart.?
This Sunday, June 14, I continue a sermon series called Bless This Home from Jesus’ Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12). This week I will talk about “God Blesses the Holy.”
I will share three practical practices each family can do to help become holy and pure:
- Get your own heart pure. Pay close attention to what you are looking at. Begin your day with a time with God to guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23).
- Parent to the heart. It is easy for parents to only major on behavior while ignoring the heart. To understand a child’s heart we must listen first.
- Pursue perfect purity. Though we’ll never be perfect, we can pursue perfection. I love how Paul encouraged the Ephesians, “…among you there must not be even a hint of immorality or any kind of impurity…” (Ephesians 5:3).
Join me as we continue to position our families so God can bless us.
