Peace on earth.
Peace is a wonderful hope. Everybody wants it but few really experience it.
In the last 4,000 years there have been less than 400 years of peace. The history of the world is the futile efforts to live happily and peaceful with each other.
This Sunday, June 21, is Father’s Day and I will conclude a sermon series called Bless This Home from Jesus’ Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12). This week I will talk about “God Blesses the Peacemaker.”
I think we all want to have a peaceful home. However, what can we do to be a peacemaker? I will share three steps:
- Peace with God. If you are going to have peace anywhere you must have peace with God. This involves trusting Jesus as your own personal Savior. If you have Jesus, you have peace.
- Peace of God. Once you have peace with God, He will give you an inner peace – the peace of God. This goes beyond explanation. It is a calm heart even in the middle of an anxious world.
- Peacemaker. When you have peace with God and an inner peace from God, you will be able to be a peacemaker. Only God can give true and lasting peace. So we should pray fervently, listen lovingly, and rebuke cautiously.
