Our Story

How it all started...

On Sunday, July 8, 1973, sixty-five concerned people met with founding pastor Lloyd Jewett to discuss the possibility of establishing a new church. Within two weeks (July 22, 1973), Faith Baptist Church met for the first public service in the Lenawee County Labor Building. The Charter Membership service was held on Sunday, September 16 of the same year. The following October, the church purchased 20 acres of land including a pastor's home. On Sunday, September 15, 1974 ground was broken for the first unit of the church building and Mother's Day of 1975 (May 11) the church held services in the new building.

Expanding the vision...

Faith Baptist Church has had four pastors since Lloyd Jewett: Robert Stuck, Stephen James, Archie Graham, and Greg Burdine. Each has led the church to continue the vision to reach the community and the world. The congregation connected in the community with, among other ministries, Love Lenawee, an outreach to schools, community events and other opportunities. The world has been impacted through the Faith Baptist Church missions program. The church raises over $100,000 annually for missionaries and has published over 250,000 Scriptures for missionaries.

Where we are headed...

As young families continued to catch the vision at Faith Baptist Church, the need for more room was evident. An active youth ministry and expanding children's ministry have a new home - a 5,000 square foot building just for them. In September 2023 the church will have a chance to thank the community for the privilege of serve them for the past 50 years. Praise God! The future will include continuing to minister to families and helping each generation, young and old, follow and lead others to follow Jesus Christ.
